  1. Santa Barbara’s Farmers Market

    March 26, 2013 by denise

    Farmers Market

Santa Barbara’s Farmers Market is one of my happy places.  The variety of sights, smells, colors, people, dogs just feels like Santa Barbara.  The abundance of fruits and veggies, fresh herbs, nuts, oils, jams, breads, pasta, pies, cheese, meats, and eggs is a food lovers paradise.

  2. Taste This Egg Roll

    February 15, 2011 by denise

I made these egg rolls as part of my Super Bowl menu.  So as you can see, I’m a couple weeks late posting this recipe.

I have no excuse for this. Actually, I could come up with a number of excuses, but none of them are any good….unlike these egg rolls.

These egg rolls have a south-west, tex mex spin and are simply delicious. (more…)

  3. Taste This Spicy Shrimp Taco

    February 3, 2011 by denise

Yes I made tacos again for dinner.  No, I am not currently doing a Week-Of-Tacos, although that would be delicious.

I did, however, spend longer than I’d like to admit at the store trying to decide what to make for dinner tonight, when I remembered the packaged of 30 corn tortillas I had just bought for the Korean tacos.  Since there are only two of us here we can’t eat our way through 30 tortillas in one sitting.  We couldn’t do it in two either, but given how delicious these tacos are, we definitely tried. 4. Taste This Korean BBQ Taco

    February 2, 2011 by denise

Korean barbecue tacos have been all the rage for quite a while, so I figured it was time I posted a recipe.

The marinade used in this Korean barbecue has a mild-sweet flavor and is perfectly complimented by the pickled cucumber and carrot.

It’s best to let the meat marinade for a couple hours, so throw that together and then sit back and relax.  This dish is so easy, the hardest part is just waiting! (more…)

  5. Taste This Apricot Glazed Chicken

    January 29, 2011 by denise

I get cravings.  Out of the blue cravings.  Thursday was no exception when I decided I was going to make apricot chicken.  I don’t think I’ve ever even had apricot chicken, making my craving all the more strange.

I started with what I assumed to be the only absolutely necessary ingredient, apricot (in this case, preserves) and went from there hoping to make a sauce I at least liked.  In the end, I had a sauce I loved.  Excitement. (more…)

  6. Taste This Soy Sauce Egg

    January 26, 2011 by denise

Quite a while back I saw this recipe on Rasamalaysia.com, a blog with super delicious looking Asian recipes.

I have no idea what took me so long to make these.  This recipe has, count them, two ingredients.  Hard boiled eggs and soy sauce.  So unbelievably easy with fantastic flavor. (more…)

  7. Taste This Vietnamese Shrimp Salad

    January 26, 2011 by denise

Last weekend we had family in town.  Having people visit is alway the best and always full of eating out, it’s just a natural part of showing off your town.

However after a few days of eating out I decided (and everyone agreed) we needed a nice, light, and flavorful salad for dinner. (more…)

  8. Taste This Spicy Shrimp Pasta

    January 22, 2011 by denise

Without any plan of what I was going to do with them, I bought a couple hanbanero peppers at the store the other day.  They sat in my refrigerator for a couple days before I decided what to do.

The habaneros in this pasta give it a unique flavor that is anything but Italian.  (more…)

  9. Taste This Chile Verde, 2 ways

    January 17, 2011 by denise

Our week of quesadillas was interrupted Friday when my husband and I went out of town with a couple of friends for the weekend.  Not all was lost though.  Before we left I had lunch with some women from work.  For my contribution, I brought pork chile verde.  And because buying tomatillos always makes me think about salsa verde, I made that too.

A couple words on what I’ve just mentioned above.  Both of these recipes are super easy and super flavorful.  And though I cooked the pork on the stove over low heat for a couple hours, I see no reason why the same recipe wouldn’t work just as well in a crock pot, which in my opinion, is always a plus.

  10. Taste This Veggie Quesadilla

    January 17, 2011 by denise

Because I’m playing a little bit of catch up with my posts here, and because I think after 3 other posts on quesadillas anyone who did not previously have a handle on how to make one has now got it, I’m going to make this post a little shorter. (more…)
